An aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and abilitySociety of Sports Therapists
Is Sports Therapy right for me?
Despite the job title initially suggesting a Sports Therapist only treats high level athletes, we regularly see people from all levels and abilities of sport and activity.
The skills of a Sports Therapist allow for assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions, and if appropriate, referral for specialist advice/intervention. Not only can a sports therapist diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions, we are able to assess posture and biomechanics (the way you move) to see if this could be the cause of your pain. We can also put together bespoke rehabilitation programmes to help you return to full fitness.
And don’t feel foolish for making an appointment if you’ve developed aches and pains even without taking part in sports. Those who have jobs which involve little movement throughout the working day are prone to muscle imbalances and postural changes- we can help to correct and manage these too!
